ACTION ALERT: CONTACT YOUR HOUSE MEMBERS TODAY
TO COSPONSOR HR 2373 (posted May 26, 2009)

Thanks to the efforts of Georgia Association of Medical Equipment Services (GAMES) and the North Carolina Association for Medical Equipment Services (NCAMES), Congressmen Tom Price (R-Ga.) and Heath Shuler (D-N.C.) introduced the Home Oxygen Patient Protection Act of 2009 (H.R. 2373) last week. The bill would directly repeal the 36-month rental payment cap for oxygen and restore the benefit to provide payments during the entire period of medical need. Providers are urged to contact their representatives and ask them to protect home oxygen patients and small-business oxygen providers by cosponsoring H.R. 2373! A template letter to send to your representative may be found by clicking here or by visiting the VGM DC Link. When sending your letter, include the text of H.R. 2373 for reference. A copy of the bill may be downloaded by clicking here or at the VGM DC Link.

Of the 435 House members, it is important to get at least half (218) to cosponsor H.R. 2373. This would allow the legislation to move past the committee(s) to which the bill was referred (Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce) and onto the House floor. Additionally, having 218 cosponsors would give House leaders knowledge of bipartisan support if the language from H.R. 2373 was inserted in to a health care reform package.

Contact your House member TODAY! If your representative cosponsored H.R. 621, The HOPP Act of 2007, remind him/her of the prior support. For a list of those who cosponsored H.R. 621 click here or visit the VGM DC Link. To contact your representative, simply dial the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. Remember to be respectfully persistent to ensure your voice is heard!
